She enjoyed a successful career as a professional ASCAP songwriter and singer/musician while signed to the legendary Motown label. During this tenure she recorded and published with the group PAL, who set an international record with one of the highest debuting chart singles from a new group. As important as a great melody is to her in a well-written song, she came to appreciate that a song’s weight must be carefully and equally balanced with great lyrical content. Sinden Collier is not only a photographer, she is an artist. Her photographs extend beyond what she sees; they reflect what she feels. While intriguingly beautiful, Sinden’s photographs are often described as possessing a haunting clarity. She creates an atmosphere of lightness and darkness, reality and fantasy. Her photographs have appeared worldwide in numerous magazines and advertising campaigns. In 2001, Sinden Collier became the first Black female photographer to be signed to Getty Images.
